I am an economist with an interdisciplinary background and interests in energy economics, air pollution, climate change, and economic development as well as a broader interest in environmental and ecological economics. I am associated with the Environmental Economics Research Hub, the Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis, and the Climate Change Institute.
Previously, I was an associate professor in economics at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy New York, where I directed the Graduate Program in Ecological Economics. Prior to that I've worked at Australian National University, Boston University, and University of York. I did my PhD in geography at Boston University under the supervision of Cutler Cleveland.
I have been extensively involved with the International Society for Ecological Economics. I'm associate editor of Ecological Economics and treasurer of the Australia New Zealand Society for Ecological Economics and also organized the ISEE conference in Canberra in 2000.
